Lena Kitzing

Lena Kitzing (Danish, German) is Professor of Energy Economics and Policy and Head of the Wind Energy Systems Division at the Technical University of Denmark (Denmark), as well as part-time Professor at the Florence School of Regulation at the European University Institute (Italy). She holds further external academic affiliations at MIT (Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research) and the University of Cambridge (Energy Policy Research Group). Through these ties and frequent advisory activities for major international and European bodies, she bridges global academia and policy.

Lena's research is at the intersection of energy, economics, and societal transitions. She is particularly interested in governance and market design, policy instruments, and investment risk, with a focus on deployment of renewables and their integration into the energy system. She was a Board Member of the Joint Programme for wind energy of the European Energy Research Alliance and lead contributor to the global Technology Collaboration Programme for wind energy economics of the International Energy Agency.

Lena Kitzing holds a PhD in Energy Economics from the Technical University of Denmark.
