The European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change was invited to present its latest report on the EU’s 2040 climate target to the European Parliament’s ENVI Committee. Following the presentation, there was an exchange of views between the Chair of the Advisory Board and the members of the ENVI Committee. 

On 18 July, Professor Ottmar Edenhofer, Chair of the Advisory Board, represented the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change in an exchange of views with the European Parliament’s committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI).

Prof. Edenhofer presented the conclusions and recommendations of the Advisory Board’s latest report titled Scientific advice for the determination of an EU-wide 2040 climate target and a greenhouse gas budget for 2030–2050, which was published on 15 June 2023.

ENVI members showed great interest in the work of the Advisory Board and the scientific approach for determining the 2040 climate target.
